Department of Mathematical Analysis

The Department of Mathematical Analysis in its current form was shaped by a merger of the Department of the Theory of Real Functions with the pre-existing Department of Mathematical Analysis. Both of these departments were created in 1970 as divisions of AMU’s newly emerging Institute of Mathematics. The founder of the first was Professor Julian Musielak, and the second was established by Professor Władysław Orlicz. Currently the department staff conduct research in the broadly defined field of mathematical analysis, both real and complex. Their interests include such topics as functional and harmonic analysis, differential equations, discrete differential equations, and general topology.

The department staff, jointly with the Department of Functional Analysis, run a seminar on analysis and its application.
