# Department of Mathematical Analysis

The Department of Mathematical Analysis in its current form was shaped as a merger of the Department of the Theory of Real Functions with contemporary Department of Mathematical Analysis. Both these departments were created in 1970 as the divisions of newly emerging Institute of Mathematics of AMU. The founder of the first one was Professor Julian Musielak while the second one was established by Professor Władysław Orlicz. Currently the department staff conduct research in the field of broadly understood mathematical analysis, both real and complex. Their scientific interests include such topics as functional and harmonic analysis, differential equations and discrete differential equations and general topology.

The department staff, jointly with the Department of Functional Analysis, run a seminar on analysis and its application.
